Time is a funny thing, you think you have so much of it that it will span forever and ever like there's no end in sight. Until one day you realise that you don't, you realise that there really isn't a lot of time to live and do the things that you've always wanted to do. You realise that this life is fleeting and it's coming closer and closer to the end with every second that passes. That's one thing our current times has taught me is that time isn't forever nothing in this life i. I thought that a month ago I'd be hanging out with my friends and enjoying new experiences abroad, that I had so much time to do these things but I don't. I don't have a lot of time, none of us do because we don't know when are end will come. We don't know the day when death will come knocking on our door because the Lord is calling us home.
When I was young I had absolutely no concept of time. I thought the days would go on and on forever and honestly it felt that way a lot of the time. I'd wake up to a brand new day I'd eat, I'd sleep, i'd watch tv then press repeat and do it all again day after day after day. It felt like there'd be no end to this life at times that time would never, could never stop. At times that brought me a lot of joy because it was like I'd be alive forever then at times sheer pain because I thought that I would never die. Time was my friend but it was also my enemy. It was a boundary and an open door all at once when I was a child I suppose it was because I had no responsibilities other than eat my dinner and clean my room. Not much was expected of me then so time wasn't a tool for anything really. Not until I got older that is.
Now that I'm older I realise that the whole world is confined by time, it literally controls every waking moment of our lives without us even realising it. We wake up in the morning because it is a certain time that requires us to be up, we then go to school, work or college because it is the time we'r required to be there. This is proceded by time at home because we are no longer needed at work, school or college then we go to bed because it's the time appointed to do so. Time rules us and we only have a certain amount of it each day, twenty four hours to be exact. That's not a lot and it only seems to get shorter and shorter by the second. Only yesterday I was five years old and now I'm twenty two, tomorrow I'll be forty and then my time will be gone. I'm by no means saying this to encourage a YOLO mentality but to highlight the fact that none of us are getting younger and how we spend our time matters.
Our current times have taught me that time is short and we're not spending it wisely. We spend a lot of it in places we don't want to be in and with people we don't want to be with. Yes we don't have a lot of time in this life and we are confined by it each day but we are not confined by how we spend it. If you decide to spend the whole day outside in your back garden you still have the same twenty four hours as someone who decides to spend it at work. I know it's all about time because it runs out but we need to be wise with the time that we do have. With the time the Lord has been so gracious to give to us as his children. I've had twenty two years of life on this earth and I tell you in all honesty that I have not used all of those years wisely. I've done things that I shouldn't have and I've said things that I had no right to say, but the Lord gave me those years all the same. He's given me more years than many and more precious moments in this life that I can count.
These current times have thought me that I can make all the plans in the world but if I don't make the time to put my plans into action then what's the point? I have to have plans for my time and time for my plans. Having one without the other is futile and will leave us disappointed in this life. I'm just so thankful that the God who owns the Heaven and Earth holds all the time in his hands and he knows the beginning from the end. I do not fear for that reason and I am not ashamed of my life because he owns my time using it for his great plan. He can use your time for a great plan too if you'll have some faith and hand it over to him. He is the one who created time after all and he will not waste yours like we sometimes waste our own.
I hope you were all as blessed reading this blog as I was writing it. As always I will leave you with scripture from the Word of God about time.
Psalms 90:12
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Ephesians 5:16
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Plasms 31:15
My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.
2 Peter 3:8
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
In these current times I pray that you all stay safe and healthy, I know that sometimes things seem dim but know that God is in control. He is always there because he loves us so much and that's why he sent his only begotten Son to die on the cross for us. If you don't know the Lord today I urge that you call out to him today because when we pray he listens. Jesus is the only way to Salvation, the only one who can save us from our sins. If you know the Lord already I pray that you stay on the narrow path fighting the good fight of faith. I love you all but the Lord loves you a trillion times more. Stay blessed.
