SIN

Sin is a word that's not exactly unheard of in the world today. I'ts a very common word actually. I honestly believe that everyone no matter where you live, what country you're from or where you grew up has heard the word sin. With that being said what is sin? You always hear it mentioned in church, in bible podcasts, etc.. but have we actually taken the time out to figure out what exactly sin is and how it effects us? When I was younger I didn't.

I can distinctly remember going to church as a child and not paying attention to anything I mean anything other than the worship and maybe a few snipbits here and there from Sunday school. Something I do however recall is people talking about sin the odd time in the music and classes. I never once asked anyone or looked into what sin was. I guess you could say that I didn't really care too much. God was always someone far away to me anyway so this word sin didn't bother me. It was just a word or so I thought.

I don't know if you've ever heard anyone say that words are powerful before well if not i'm telling you now that words are powerful. Sin is a powerful word. What does sin mean you ask? Death. That's exactly what it means sin is death and not only that but eternal death. The Bible tells us that sin is what causes death, when we sin we're essentially killing our own souls. Sin means eternal separation, eternal damnation, eternal torment and eternal weeping. Sin is not a joke neither is it something to be taken lightly in the eyes of man. Sin is something that I used to take lightly. A big mistake that was.

Before I got saved I was living my life in direct opposition to God. Jesus told me to go left I would go right, Jesus told me to walk forward yet I would walk backward. Everything I did and all I did was sin against God every moment of every day but he had mercy on me. He did not allow me to die in my disobedience and defiance towards him. In my sin he allowed me to wake up every morning and go to sleep at night, he watched me eating and drinking day after day in my active defiance. You cannot tell me God is not good. I was on a one way ticket to hell, an eternal ticket that has no refunds, no exchanges and no route changes. All of this courtesy of my sin.

Sin means death if you didn't catch that before. It is the very embodiment of the word. When we die in sin we die in death. The life we live now in our bodies is on loan but the life we live in the spirit is forever. You get to choose how you live this life. A life in Christ sinning less and less or a life in this world sinning more and more. You see none of us are perfect we all make mistakes, we all have done things that we're not proud of and thought things that we wouldn't want anyone to know about. But let me tell you that is the very reason that Jesus Christ came! If we were all perfect and never sinned and lived Godly lives Jesus would not have needed to die for our sins. There is a way out of death and it is Jesus.

We sin. We sin when we hurt others. We sin when we hurt ourselves. We sin with our thoughts and our words. We sin with our lives. We sin. We have all deserve eternal death but God in his mercy gives us a golden pass to every single one of our sins. Please do not wait until you die to figure out where you're going. Please do not read this and harden your heart. Jesus loves you and it's not too late. It is never too late. Today is the day of salvation. We have wronged God but he has never wronged us. His love never fails please choose his love today before time is up.

I pray that everyone reading this blog finds the truth and hat it sets them free.As always I leave you with verses from the word of God about todays topic which is Sin.

Romans 3:23-24                                                                                                                                          For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 4:8                                                                                                                                   And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
